Day 03

I detest tinsel. I think it is the most feral looking christmas decoration around, mainly because my mum use to cover our tiny little christmas tree in so much tinsel when i was younger that you could barely make out that there was even a tree under it all. Totally Mac-Tacky.

Anyway, i don’t know how we even managed to have tinsel in our house because i certainly didn’t buy it…but some how a bunch of it found it’s way into our xmas decoration box. I refused to put it on our perfectly minimalist tree but Charlee was determined to do something with it (mainly because like most little girls she adores anything with a hint of sparkle.) so i told them to go decorate the front of the house.

Is it wrong for me to hope that at some stage during the week a giant storm will come along and accidentally blow it all away?

Day 02

After a long day playing at church and then grandma’s there’s nothing like some serious couch time in front of the TV.

Photo a day: Day one

Every year in January i start a personal project called “Photo a day for 30 days”. This yeah i’ve decided to start a little early. I plan on taking a photo a day between now and the end of Febuary.

Next year is a big year for us. Charlee is starting school, which is a huge step for her and of course we are also adding in a new family member at the end of April which will completly alter the dynamics of our currently rather even household.

Hopefully by the end of the next three months i’ll have a collection of images that can be filed away for future reference to look back on our lives at this point in time. I really recommend joining in with this project, even if you are not a photographer you can still take at least one snapshot a day of your everyday routine. It is fantastic to look back on them months down the track and see how much everyone has changed.

organized chaos

Photobucket

Yep…that’s my desk…nothing to hide here. Organization is not my middle name…neither is cleanliness or good time management.

I’m pretty sure at the start of the year one of my resolutions was to be better organized…i failed. Don’t get me wrong, i would never not turn up to a photo session, and in 5 years i have never once turned up to a shoot and forgotten something important like a memory card or battery. But when it comes to filing away information or generally looking like everything is in control is not something my family will remember me for when i’m gone i’m afraid.
Ah well…there could be worse things i suppose ;)

And with sweet little distractions like this interrupting me numerous times a day, you can’t blame me for not wanting to waste the time tidying up.

Brighton | Melbourne family portraits

This post should be titled “when not to hold a photo shoot in summer” LOL. Unfortunately we managed to fluke the hottest busiest day at the beach for Rachael’s family. So hot poor little me nearly passed out from heat exhaustion (very embarrassing). I don’t blame them all for immediately making a bee-line for the water. It was definitely a challenge getting all 13 of them to stay in the one place long enough to get a shot but hopefully i think i managed it.

Here are just a few sneak peeks, I’m heading down to the local pool with the kids for a few hours to cool down and relax my weary muscles after shooting a wedding yesterday. I’ll have a few sneak peeks for that up on the Lift the Veil blog in a few days.
